Mike Nowell

Mike makes his home near Starkville, MS. with his wife, Julia. He has been involved with bluegrass music for over 40 years. Over the years, he has shared the stage with iconic musicians such as: Chubby Wise, Mac Wiseman, John Hartford, Carl Jackson, and other wonderful bluegrass musicians. He has been a member of several different regional bands, more notably, the very popular band, Perfect Tyming, where he was one of the original founding members. Now, as a member of, Magnolia Drive, he’s reunited with his younger brother, Steve, who also was a mainstay member of, Perfect Tyming.

Mike really takes pride in his guitar work, especially focusing on the solid rhythm and timing to help create the quality foundation for a distinctive bluegrass band sound. He appreciates the importance of and really enjoys the creativity aspect of helping develop the band’s numerous original song arrangements, both musically and vocally. Mike has always enjoyed songwriting throughout the years and has recorded some of his works. Look for some of his originals to be included on the upcoming Magnolia Drive recording projects.

Also, way back when, Mike played banjo with several bluegrass groups and still occasionally picks up the 5-string either to help arrange a new song or simply for the enjoyment. He is truly grateful and excited to be included in such a talented and great group of guys that are…Magnolia Drive.
